Carissa understands the human interface - the nature of conflict, and the way that people can respectfully work past their differences towards outcomes that are greater.
With extensive experience in environmental management working in over ten countries on four continents, and a Certificate in Advanced Mediation: Mediating Complex Disputes from Harvard Law School's Negotiation Institute, Carissa is uniquely positioned to bridge diverse interests in resolving environmental disputes and increasing value for all parties.
In addition, she has held speaking engagements in Toronto, Ottawa (Canada), Shanghai (China), Paris (France), and Washington DC (USA) on environmental law, sustainable development, and social justice. As a Director on the Board of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL) Ontario Chapter, she Chairs its Women’s Committee and has moderated numerous panel discussions at its Annual Conferences, on topics ranging from mental health in the legal profession and another trauma-informed law.
As an Associate Research Fellow of the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law, Carissa also provides advice, research, and writing on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, human rights, and future generations.
Carissa also enjoys photographing nature and the environment and is a proud mother.
